HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?
Counselling provides an opportunity to develop increased understanding of yourself and the barriers which are preventing you from living a fulfilling and satisfying life. Counselling is an opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings and to explore issues in a way that is designed to facilitate change. Counselling can assist you in navigating your emotional world, clarify your values, and to access your own wisdom to help you cultivate balance in your life. You also may learn new strategies and techniques which have been shown to be effective in managing a range of interpersonal problems and psychological issues. These include communication and assertiveness skills, stress management skills, relaxation skills, anger management skills, problem solving and decision making skills, parenting skills, just to name a few.
It is important to note that you don’t need to be experiencing a mental illness or psychological difficulties in order to benefit from counselling. People may choose counselling in order to develop or strengthen certain personal qualities or to support them through a process of life transition.
